Article VIII: Committees
Standing committees shall be established, as needed, by the
general membership, or by the steering committee subject to the
approval of the general membership at a regular or special meeting.
The chairs of standing committees shall be ex-officio consultants
of the steering committee. At any time the union is in, or is
about to begin, bargaining with the University, the steering committee
shall establish a bargaining advisory committee.
We
urge you to consider running for one of these offices.
If you like to travel and meet other people we especially urge
you to consider running for Executive Committee Representative.
The face-to-face executive board meetings are inspirational events!
Meet your counterparts from other campuses and help make the decisions
that make our union RUN.
If you believe in CUE's vision of economic and employment justice
for UC clericals, if you have strong feelings about your working
conditions, consider serving a term on the Bargaining Team. Bargainers
use University-approved release time (approved time away from
your university job) to travel to the various bargaining sites
and the union pays for your travel. You get a chance to improve
your life and the lives of your fellow clericals.
The current and outgoing officers stand ready to assist anyone
who takes office as President or Vice-President to handle those
duties in the beginning of their term. Our field representative
can help in many ways, too.
