On March 27, 2008, CUE Local 10 conducted its regularly scheduled election for leadership positions on the local Executive Board, or Steering Committee. In that election, only a Treasurer, Bargaining Representative and Alternate, and a Statewide CUE Representative were elected. Since then, workers have come forward to run for other leadership positions thereby creating the need to hold another democratic election. This notice to you is the constitutionally required fifteen (15) day notice announcing the opening of nominations. The following is the election schedule:
Positions available for nomination and election are: President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, 3 At-Large members, Chief Steward and 1 vacant representative to the Statewide Union Executive Board. Nominations can be made in person, by phone, mail or email. The name of a member nominated to run for office must be received at the CUE office no later than July 11, 5pm. Please also give us contact information for the nominated person, including phone and email. Only union members in good standing are permitted to receive ballots and cast votes in leadership elections. If you are currently a fee payer and would like to join the union and thereby vote in this important leadership election, please contact Aggie Olivares, the CUE Administrative Services Coordinator, at 831.420.0258. In addition to leadership positions on the Executive Board, or Steering Committee, one Constitutional Amendment is being proposed and will be included on the ballot. The Amendment is about expanding the number and kinds of leadership positions for Local 10 and also adding voting rights and responsibilities of those positions. A copy of the current Local 10 Constitution can be found on our website at http://www.santacruzcue.org/members/local_constitution.htm. Ballots will be mailed to union members homes. If you have changed addresses since March 2008, please contact the Union office to notify us of your new address. |
