The Coalition of University Employees has received notice of several developments that impact CUE workers and permit Meet and Confer between the Union and the University. Any change to wages, hours and/or conditions of work allow for this. The University is proposing to raise parking fees, implement the START program (to allow for voluntary layoffs or reductions in time), and provide for Military Leave. Comments from the Union are due in late May on all of the topics. Union leadership and staff would like to meet with any interested members, hand out the documents the University sent us (they’re extensive and probably too much for email or posting here), get your input and feedback, and determine what the Union’s responses are. Any and all workers interested in forming a task force to review and discuss these issues are encouraged to contact Union staff to attend a meeting to plan our approach to discussions with University Labor Relations personnel. Please contact Nora Hochman, CUE Organizer/Representative (831.420.0258 or 831.588.4305) to indicate your interest in such a meeting. Worker involvement and input is the most critical element of responding to the University’s proposals. Please respond to this request for activism as quickly as possible. Thank you in advance for your participation. |
